Northeast Wisconsin Pheasants Forever Chapter - Youth Page
Wisconsin's Next Pheasant Hunters
Welcome to the next generation in conservation and pheasant hunting enthusiasts. In efforts to help our younger generation play a larger role in our efforts to conserve and provide habitat for upland game, our chapter provides today's youth with opportunities to learn about what Pheasants Forever is truly about. Wisconsin provides conservation educational materials, safety of firearms and mentor youth hunts for those kids who may not have the same opportunities as most. Take a moment and read about our past youth events, see upcoming events, or find out how you can become a key component of helping future Pheasants Forever Members.

Youth Hunter Safety and Education
While we all like to have fun in the field and chase pheasants for miles, safety is one of the most important aspects. We promote and encourage hunter safety in the field. Through these classes and education we show both youth and adults the proper ways to hold, maneuver and proper gun care. Getting those who are not familiar with a gun, comfortable with handling their firearm so that they can enjoy their hunts successfully.
2024 Youth Learn to Pheasant Hunt
On Saturday September 21st, 2024 we hosted a youth learn to pheasant hunt in Kewaunee, WI. We started the day off with hunter education, habitat education and gun handling. After the youth were comfortable with their firearm, we had each youth shoot at some sporting clays so they could learn how to shoot and aim their gun. After clays, we broke the youth into groups and proceeded with our hunt portion of the day. We had 3 groups go out. Each youth had a mentor assigned to them so that they could hunt safely, and each field had a dog with a dog handler. After the hunt, we taught the youth how to field dress their birds to bring home, and we even cooked up some pheasant so that they could taste what pheasant was like. It was a great day of pheasant hunting from start to finish Thank you to Jen and Sam Graefe for letting us use their property for this hunt, to Wolf River Game Farm for the use of the pheasant launchers, and to all the mentors and dog handlers. It was a great day.
Youth Learn to Hunt Pheasant Hunt at Springer Creek Lodge
On Saturday Jan 9th, 2021 we were able to have our first youth hunt as a chapter. All the youth hunters had the opportunity to shoot a round of sporting clays as well as take part in a pheasant hunt. A huge thank you to Springer Creek Lodge for hosting the event, the volunteers from our chapter, Triple J Wing and Clay and Taking Wing Stewardship for the use of bird launchers, the volunteers from Oconto Sportsmen Club and for all the youth that attended our event. We had such a great day mentoring youth and putting on this even, we cannot wait for our next one.
